With the new year in full swing and award season upon us, it inevitably leads me to take stock—not just of the year that was, but also my closet. We begin to ponder all of the available options for evening wear. Black tie optional? Creative black tie? White tie?? What does this all mean? And more importantly—how can anyone possibly choose what to wear? To get a better understanding, it would help to understand its origins and influencers.

One of the best things about fall, outside of Starbucks release of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, is that it is boot season! While watching the fall shows, I couldn’t wait to dust off my vintage Brazilian suede lovelies that I bought a few years ago. Being that the fall shows are shown in March, I had a few months to wait—and the wait was grueling. All I could think about were these amazing shoes I saw strut down the runway. Trends and Colors to Keep You Looking Fierce All Season Long

It is essentially your calling card allowing you to be whoever that you want. Growing up, I have always looked up to and emulated strong women both personally and stylistically.

I was six. And beyond any Nintendo or other hot gifts of the era that I received that year—that one was my favorite. And I think that is where the love affair began.
