We set lots of New Year’s Resolutions for ourselves, but usually, they revolve around fitness routines, time management, and goals within the workplace. While it’s incredibly important to establish these goals, we sometimes forget about our own wellness, specifically, taking care of our skin. In 2018, Pevonia challenges you, our fans, to make sure you’re following a proper skincare routine. This is way easier than it sounds. Although there are plenty of products you should be incorporating into your routine like a serum, cream, masks, tinted moisturizers, etc….all we’re asking is that you start simple: wash your face.
You might be thinking “that’s simple” and reach to grab that bar of soap in the bathroom each day to keep it clean…DON’T. There’s a huge margin for error when it comes to washing your face, so it’s important to make sure you’re doing it correctly. Here are 4 things you should know about washing your face:
Say No To Bar Soap
That’s right. You might cringe at the idea that you have to purchase something else other than that $1.99 bar of soap from your local drugstore, but it’s important to know that washing your face with a bar a soap can really do more harm than good. Bar soaps contain a high PH that can eat away at your outer layer of skin. In addition, bar soap can strip away skin and dry it out causing breakouts, wrinkles, and worse–a breeding ground for bacteria, and other germs! Instead, choose a cleanser that is right for your skin type, and easy on your skin. While cleansers can be a bit more costly than that bar of soap…a little with Pevonia goes a long way, and your skin will thank you!
Know Your Skin Type
Choosing a cleanser for your skin type can be daunting. The internet is constantly booming with all sorts of suggestions on the ‘latest’ and ‘greatest’ products making it hard to weed through what you actually need and what the internet is telling you you’ll like. Not to mention–your best friend called and she’s raving about her favorite cleanser, all the while you’re watching a TV commercial for a new innovation and the girl in the infomercial seems like she’s got it together.
…but knowing what YOUR skin needs is essential. When choosing a cleanser, take a moment, and ask yourself some questions about your skin. If you don’t know your skintype, its really okay. There are plenty of blogs, quizzes, and more out there to help you make an informed decision. If you’re like me, you’re probably still wanting an expert to tell you what to do…so talk to your dermatologist, skincare specialist, or give your friends at Pevonia International a call, we’re here to help.
Stick to a routine
We all get crazy, and we all get lazy. If you’re washing your face too little, or too much you’ll start to see those negative effects on your skin. It’s easy when you’re caught up with a hectic lifestyle to try to cut corners on your routine and it will start to show up on your skin. Stick to a routine; similar to the one you’re using when brushing your teeth. If you’re worried about how much time it’s taking you to get ready in the morning, try finding some dual-purpose products like Pevonia’s Stem Cells Phyto-Elite Multi-Active Foaming Cleanser (a cleanser & a toner in one!) or YouthRenew Tinted Cream SPF 30 (a 5-in-1 tinted moisturizer!).
Remove Makeup Before Application
We’re all guilty of it– if you’re trying to cut corners on your nightly beauty routine, the eye makeup remover goes first. You’ll say to yourself “I’m cleansing my face, the makeup will come off too!” ….wrong! Your cleanser should NOT be your primary means of removing makeup. Be sure to grab a safe, gentle makeup remover (like Pevonia’s Eye Make-Up Remover) to properly remove makeup first, and then apply a cleanser of choice. It may sound like it will take you longer, but an extra 3 minutes of makeup cleansing will go a long way for your skin.
